Essen...

...is the 4th largest city in North Rhine-Westphalia with its 580.000 habitants.

Hey Essen!

In 2017, Essen was rewarded the titel „Green Capital of Europe“ thanks to numerous green areas like the 70 hectare large „Grugapark“. The parks and many lakes along the river Ruhr – especially the big Baldeneysee – offer a beautiful rest from urban city life. Diverse kinds of water sports and a modern beachclub will make you feel like you are on vacation!

But Essen also has a lot to offer for shopping fans and culture enthusiasts: The popular shopping mile „Rü“ (Rüttenscheider Straße), the huge shopping centre „Limbecker Platz“, the art museum Volkwang, the famous Villa Hügel, the Zeche Zollverein (UNESCO world heritage) and Germany’s biggest cinema hall in the historical cinema „Lichtburg“.
